Grants of £500 will be given to the first 20 eligible homeowners who sign up to replace their old boiler with a new efficient one.

These energy saving grants are being paid for by central government funding that was given to the town because of its Eco-town status and could save a household up to £300 a year on their gas bills*.

The grants will also help reduce the carbon footprint of the town and it’s strive to be carbon neutral.

To be eligible to receive a grant, the old boiler must be less than 74% efficient and this means that they are usually more than 15 years old. You can find out how efficient your boiler is by looking up the make and model of your boiler online or by contacting the Eco-town team.

Funding is limited and is therefore available on a first come first served basis.

Private landlords are eligible to take part in this scheme, however, the sign up must be made in their name and only one property can benefit from the grant per person.

Cllr Glynis Watts, Deputy Leader and Portfolio Holder for Regeneration at East Hampshire District Council, said: “More than 900 households in Whitehill & Bordon Eco-town have already benefited from free cavity wall and loft insulation thanks to Eco-town funding. One of the next steps towards more energy efficient homes is to improve the performance of boilers.”

Cllr Adam Carew, Mayor of Whitehill, said: “This is great news; more residents in the town will be able to reduce their gas bills and carbon emissions. I strongly urge residents to take advantage of this fantastic offer.”

To sign up please contact the Eco-town team by phoning 01730 234352 or email whitehillbordon@easthants.gov.uk.
