Whitehill Bordon Eco-town is one of only eight communities from across theUKto be shortlisted for an electric car club.

The town was chosen from a total of 40 and now those shortlisted are competing against each other to get one of these innovative clubs.

So if Whitehill Bordon residents want an electric car club then they need to fill out a questionnaire which is available on the homepage of the Eco-town website www.whitehillbordon.com or at http://www.e-carclub.org

To be in with a chance of winning, at least 100 questionnaires need to be completed by the 23rd of March.

An electric car club (known as an E-car club) in Whitehill Bordon would mean that residents could use a car on a pay-per-use basis.

This would offer the convenience and flexibility of using a car but save money as you wouldn’t have to own one – and as well as this it would help to reduce carbon emissions.

The cars would be parked in convenient locations within the town and they could then be booked online or by phone.

The cars could be driven for as long as they are required and then returned to their dedicated parking bay.

Cllr Glynis Watts, EHDC’s portfolio holder for regeneration, said: “Having an electric car club in the town would be really useful.

“I’ve already completed the questionnaire and I hope that the town gets behind this so that residents can benefit from such an innovative scheme.”
