Watch the Exhibition House being built from the comfort of your own home
On February 6, 2012
You can now watch the Exhibition House being built from the comfort of your own home – because a camera has been installed on the site and streams photos to the internet every three minutes.
Twenty photos of the site will be taken every hour and sent to this page where you can keep up-to-date on progress as it happens.
Photos of the Exhibition House will be taken for nine months.
The pictures will then be collated when the building work is complete and made into a time-lapse film so residents can watch the transformation speeded up in a short video.
Cllr Glynis Watts, EHDC’s portfolio holder for regeneration, said: “This is an excellent idea and enables residents to get involved in the construction of this exciting building.
“It provides a great opportunity to keep track of progress and see all the building work as it happens.”
The Exhibition House is being built in the grounds of the Eco-station.
The carbon-busting home will be zero carbon and will showcase the very latest environmentally-friendly technology and design.
It will be completed later this year and it will be open to the public.
The house is designed to reduce energy consumption and because the house is so well insulated, no conventional heating system is necessary. Instead, when extra heating is needed, outgoing waste heat from the bathroom and kitchen will be redistributed to the living spaces during the day and into the evening.
The photography and the time-lapse film (including editing and production) cost £4,300.
